Actocardiograph Software for Emory University
From 2005 through the beginning of 2007, I worked on an extended project with Dr. Eugene Emory of Emory University and the Center for Prenatal Assessment and Human Development. The work focused on software and hardware support for fetal actocardiograph data capture and analysis in a clinical research setting.
Overview
The central goal of the project was to build a practical system for capturing and working with data from a Toitu fetal actocardiograph. That required both a MATLAB-based application and a hardware interface capable of bringing the device’s analog outputs into a usable research workflow.
My Contributions
I was responsible for the software and interface work needed to make the system useful in day-to-day research operations.
- Developed a MATLAB application with a graphical interface for data capture
- Built the hardware interface needed to ingest analog outputs from the Toitu fetal actocardiograph
- Implemented statistical tooling for measures that SPSS did not easily provide out of the box
- Supported the research center’s web presence with a public-facing site design and deployment
